UNION 2C26 Mortice Locks 'Fit for a King'

Built across 8 million square meters of prime land in the East Riyadh district of Saudi Arabia, the Princess Norah bint Abdul Rahman University for Women has received King Abdullah’s royal seal of approval using ‘Best of British’ UNION hardware.

Making history as the first university of its kind in Saudi Arabia, the $4 billion project, which will have a student capacity of over 26,000, includes a residential area, hospital and administrative facility.

The UNION 2C26 mortice escape sash lock was specified for its non-handed functionality and strong British brand identity.

3,000 lockcases were supplied to Saudi Arabia to meet the tight scheduling that called for an August completion after only receiving the order in July.

Simon Wilson, Regional Sales Manager for UNION, commented:

“In terms of scheduling, it has been a very challenging project.  Half way through, his majesty King Abdulla honored the project with a visit, so we had to specially deliver 100 lockcases so that a small section could be completed for his inspection.

“As with most developments in this part of the world, the scale of the University is immense, and it is great that UNION’s quality and strong British branding has been recognised for such a high profile project.”
